A long story would be attached but it'll be saved for another time. Essentially though, I need to swap a set of HSD dualtechs from a MK2 to a MK1 and the TA technics from the MK1 onto the MK2.
I know the topmounts are different, what do I need to buy? Would it be standard top mounts or HSD/TA specific ones? Is there a chance I could use the ones that are already on the car?
(While I'm here, is there anything to know about swapping the diffs between these 2 as well? ta) |

Use the right top mounts for each car. They are different and you might find the shaft from the MK1 coilovers is not long enough for the MK2 top mounts.
What spec are the cars? Diff will fit but you might have to mess about swapping prop and half shafts.

The mk1 is a 1.8, the mk2 is a 2.5 vvt.
From what Ive seen, coilovers are a pretty universal part, and that they are supplied with different top mounts depending on which car you order for. Having not fitted them before does a coilover kit have a different top mount than a standard one (probably, just being sure) and would it be likely that the TA technics and the HSD ones would be compatible with eachother?
Certainly rather not change the prop and shafts, again its another job ive not done before but then its pretty obvious it would have to come out do change the diff so shouldnt make a difference?

1.8 MK1 should be easy then. THey both have the same Prop and Half shafts.
MK1 and MK2 coilovers differ int he length of shat that comes through the top mount. THe topmounts will be the standard Mazda ones.

The length of the what? I'm surprised its not been canoe'd by the filter!  Thanks for the info, I'll do some research quick on the TAs, if the mk2s are longer they will fit np, its wether the mk1s will fit the mk2. |
