Any interest in my pictures from my parent's visit? I took around 1200, mixture of landscapes, wildlife and city life. Would give you guys an overview of what Minnesota is like.

Well then! I'll hopefully get it written over this weekend and the photos sorted.

Wow that's beautiful! What lens(es) are you using with your camera? That whole area looks really beautiful. I checked it out on the map and I hadn't realised just how remote it is up there. Huge swathes of land with no roads at all. Presumably the folks around there are very "huntin' shootin' fishin' "

Huge swathes of land with no roads at all. Presumably the folks around there are very "huntin' shootin' fishin' " I bought into the micro four-thirds (M43) system about five years ago, when I got my first real camera, a Panasonic Lumix G2. Since then, I've had a Olympus OM-D E-M5, which ended up in an unfortunate interaction with a concrete floor, so I got the OM-D E-M1 to replace it. The difference is night and day between the E-M5 and E-M1 (but then there is around a $600 difference between the two bodies). Not sure how into cameras you are, but M43 is a 2x crop factor, so you can double my lens list to get the 35mm equivalent. I currently have: Olympus 12mm F2.0 - use this for landscapes (and a lot of the shots of the car). Most expensive lens I've bought, a 30th birthday present to myself. Olympus 25mm F1.8 - use this for detail work, or when the 12mm is too wide. Olympus 40-150mm F4.0-5.6 - mostly wildlife, and hopefully some track stuff. You can pick one of these up for around $60, which is just insane for how good it is. Rokinon 7.5mm F3.5 Fisheye - just a bit of fun. Gets used once a year. After this trip, I realised I wanted something longer for wildlife photography, so I've also got a Olympus 75-300mm F4.8-6.7 on it's way. I buy most of my stuff second hand - there's a few good shops here with decent stock and prices. There are advantages to using Olympus lenses with the Olympus body I have - they're weather sealed, the image stabilsation is better and you can use phase or contrast detection focusing on the E-M1. I could chat cameras all day... Yeah, we were there for the fishing opener. So many boats! The best way of seeing Voyageurs is probably by boat, there's so many trails you can't access by land.

That's a nice selection! I also use Micro 4/3 kit. A few years back I borrowed a friend's Lumix G2 and was quite impressed with it, so I got myself a G6 which I used with the kit lens for a while. The camera was good but the lens had an annoying soft area in it, and also I do a lot of video work and needed a mic input jack, so last year I got myself a second-hand GH3 instead. I absolutely love it, although it's pretty heavy!
I currently have a Lumix 14-140mm F4.0 which is pretty decent and good for general shots and a Lumix 25mm F1.7 which is razor sharp and great in low light (and for pretty bokeh). I think my next might be a 12mm like what you have, as the 25mm is a bit too narrow for some shots.
I also tend to buy second hand, and a few generations old, particularly when it comes to camera bodies. Lenses I am a little more cautious with as you don't know how they've been looked after, but if you buy smart there's no issue

Definitely become my favourite now. I think I still have my 14-42mm kit lens somewhere, it's gathering dust. In car news, I've found a body shop to deal with the rust patch and rear end. I want to remove the "shelf" that's there now and have all the holes filled in. I'm going for this look, but with a black fiberglass bumper like the front: Nathan (the guy that owns the body shop) did all the work on a colleague's husband's drift car (https://www.instagram.com/dabsedan). He's currently building a new spray booth, but reckons he'll have space to do my car in the next couple of months. I'm not really in a hurry just now, as I'm enjoying driving the thing too much. This weekend is Memorial day, so I have a 3-day weekend. List of things to do on the Z: - Bleed brakes again - Work out where the petrol smell is coming from (new cold start valve is on it's way) - Seafoam engine to try and fix lifter tick - Clean throttle body out - Fix driver's lock - Look at right rear shock - I don't think the spring is seated correctly as there's a fairly loud clunk occasionally.
