Wow, dat waterfall shot! Do like a long exposure. Years ago when I had a decent DLSR, I used to go to the beach in complete darkness and take really long exposures (1 min +) - the colours in the apparent black skies were amazing, deep purples etc. Sadly I seem to have lost all the pictures from my experiments

Thanks! I love long exposures of water. I really suck at night time long exposures, I need more practice.
I still have pictures of St. Paul and Minehaha to go through, then I think that's all of them. I chucked my camera in the car this morning with the vague plan of heading somewhere after work.
In 280Z news, I bled the brakes and tried to tighten everything up for the suspension. Unfortunately my friend had a house showing, so I had to scarper sharpish and didn't really get everything I wanted done.
I chucked some seafoam in the oil and the petrol tank. Checked the dipstick yesterday after putting 100 miles or so on it, and it's definitely loosened some of the carbon out of the engine, but the lifter tick is still pretty loud. I'm going to do an oil change soon, and might take the opportunity to check the valve tolerances. I've never done that before, but OILY BITS are always fun.
It always takes three attempts to start from cold, so I really need to get the cold start valve changed over, but haven't had the time yet. I can probably do that in my apartment's garage.

Sorry, another update with no pictures. Cold start valve changed and fuel hose replaced. Smell of petrol has gone. SUCCESS! EGR blanking plate fitted. Engine bay a tiny bit tidier. SUCCESS! Two oil changes now complete. Firstly put some cheapy valvoline in to wash out the sea foam, and ran that for a week. Put a new K&N filter and some Royal Purple 10w30 in, engine sounds a lot happier. SUCCESS! Didn't get round to doing the valve tolerances or changing the spark plugs yet. That's probably going to be a job for a few weeks time - I have lost my next three weekends. However, not all is fun and games. My exhaust manifold is definitely blowing, and the car sounds like a tractor. So I need a new manifold. Problem is, I can't just get a new manifold and bolt it up to the current exhaust because 1) they don't make OEM manifolds now for reasonable money and 2) the current exhaust is a rusty heap of crap that sticks out like a sore thumb. So I think I will be ordering this: 6-1 Manifold, 2.5" collector. I'm not sure if a 6-2-1 vs a 6-1 will make any difference - if anyone has an opinion, please pipe up. I do really like the look of the Fujitsubo Legalis R back box: But single exits can work well: I'm taking the car to a shop tomorrow to get a quote for fitting it and fabricating a 2.5" exhaust, so I'll run through my options with the guy there as well.

uhhhhhhh. 6-1 fannymold... uhhhh! LEGALIS! so much goodness. I wouldn't actually be ordering a legit one, I'd be getting the exhaust shop to make up something similar. I think I'm going to actually go with a single exit if they can get it to sit right, like the red one I posted above.

Thanks! I grabbed a shot of the car after parking it tonight. Going to see the exhaust man tomorrow after work and see what he can do.

I'm back from the exhaust man. Very nice, family owned business. They got my car up on the ramps, and had a proper look underneath and gave me a quote.
I'm not really 100% sure what sound I want, so the exhaust man suggested he fits up the new manifold, clamps some pipes in and we can try some different options. I like the idea of spending all day listening to car noises, so I agreed.
Looks like I'm getting a 6-1 Ceramic coated manifold, then a 2.5" exhaust with some sort of muffler to get the right kind of sound. Oh, and the exhaust is stainless, mandrel bent. Should be a thing of beauty if his other work is anything to go by.
As amazing as the Legalis is, I can't justify around $2500+ once you take into account import duties, shipping and labour costs.

Is this too much?
Manifold ordered, will be here Saturday.
Edit - Found this one. I think I like it more:
I'm looking at getting the muffler put into the middle of the car (where the cat normally lives) so I can have a nice clean pipe at the rear.

To louver or not to louver?

Personally I quite like the louvre look, especially on cars from that era
Should be black though I reckon

Oh yeah, definitely black. You can see the stock bumper on that car - I won't have that, I think louvers will work really well with a clean rear end.
I'll get the exhaust out of the way first. The manifold should be here tomorrow, but unfortunately I'm away until Sunday evening.
