I am working on a bit of a quick solution, once I've tried it I will let you know For reference, the mk2 reservoir isn't bigger, its taller but narrower, i.e. Same volume!

I've bitten the bullet and went for a quick'n'dirty depowered rack. It's a chore at parking/manoeuvring speeds, but lovely once you're up to speed. Going to give it a few weeks experience and if I'm happy with it I'll get a spare rack and have it done properly (seals removed, pinion welded). Up at Knockhill this coming Sunday doing autosolo demos and passenger rides so will get plenty of seat time to try it on an autosolo course... I am mildly dreading this lol!

So this didnt work, i thought putting them in series would maintain an equal level with the two - for some reason it just emptied 1 and spurted out the other!! IMG_0500 by Rich Glindon, on Flickr

I wont be doing that - I like the PAS!! Probably end up with atlex idea and stick a sock over the reservoir!!

Did an autosolo yesterday and the Mk2 pas reservoir didn't seem to leak I also tried the sock as well! As there was no oil on it I assume there was no leakage! Splendid

I went for a de-powered rack in my old MK1, was one of the best things I did in my opinion for steering feel.
I did it the proper way, turning down the rack on a lathe, and tig welding the pinion up + pipe unions. Just removing the power steering and looping the lines will make the steering heavy, you need to modify the internals to reduce the friction on everything.
If anyone is intrested in a modified rack I can do them on an exchange basis, did a few last year for other MX5 owners.
