Hows the factory paint match? Want my car to be all red for Spring Action Day so am going to throw some paint over the rear quarters and rear garnish, not after a factory finish but would like it to be roughly the same colour. Do I stand much of a chance? Last time I used them was on a silver mk4 Golf and it was waaaaaay off.

Halfords SU Red was about as close to Mazda SU Red as a really far away thing.

I can recommend the Mx5 Parts SU Red rattle cans, I have used quite a lot of it and it was a very good match for my car whereas the Halfords one was not.

Balls. Thanks chaps. I'll order some from MX5Parts then rather than Halfrauds.

So, went to order two 400ml cans of SU Red from MX5Parts, including postage it was £35!!! Not in this lifetime will I be paying that for two cans. Jog on.
Gonna try my luck with the Halfrauds. It'll be better than what it currently is.

The Halfords Classic Red must have been from another planet - basically came out Orange/Red!! My local trade supplier Reading Paint Services will mix rattle cans to order and their SU was spot on. It's about £13/can, though that was a couple of years ago. I primed with Fast Filler Red primer and finished off with their Clear Rapid 496. HTH. Cheers, Pewe.

I might see if anywhere around here can mix up a couple of cans for me. Ive always found Halfords rattle cans ok their Mazda red (on my 1.6) was ok (once I got the right one!)
