Currently have a mk1 1.6 (the 90bhp one ) and im after some info on doing a 1.8 conversion. Which is the best engine to swap into my car....mk1 or mk2 1.8?? And do i need the flyin miata conversion parts or can it be done without?? I plan on using the 1.6 ecu and wiring loom on a 1.8

I shall refer you to Skuzzles ultimate engine thread as this is probably the most complete and technical guide. IN my opinion a 115bhp 1.6 engine is not only easier but the best swap for you

Turbo is the long term plan....just gotta get my rear canoe into ger and sell some stuff first. If i was going to turbo a 1.6 would i be better off doing it to a 115bhp engine?? would the 115bhp engine drop straight in??

no the mk1 95 brake 1.6 is one of the better engines to turbo I'd disagree with you there. The 1.6 auto engine is a great engine for FI but the 88bhp UK 1.6 is probably the worst engine for FI. The head is restrictive, the cams reduce airflow, the crank doesn't have the oil-jet cooling for the underside of the pistons... If it's going to be turbo'd then the Mk1 1.6 (auto or 114bhp) is great but if you go for SC then the 1.8 is a better choice.
