No doubt this has been discussed somewhere already, but I was wondering how people felt about the new Top Gear now we're on series two and sans Chris Evans.
I personally am now really enjoying it, I think they are starting to gel a little more as this series goes on. Le Blanc is still a little wooden but I don't mind it too much.
I think TG is now a car show with entertainement value, while GT is an entertainment show about cars. I am going to put it out there that I now find TG more interesting to watch than the GT.

I like it and I like Matt, Chris and Rory, I thought that the old TG with Clarkson et al was passsed its sell by anyway. agreed - it is a car show now, this is borne out by the fact that I now watch it on my own - rest of the family aren't that bothered!

You've totally hit the nail on the head. I like Matt as he takes the p*ss out of himself, don't quite get Rory but he's growing on me. Met Chris a couple of times & whilst he comes across as a little (!) arrogant, there's no doubt that he's an amazing driver.

I personally can't get on with it, I like Chris as a journalist but I can't seem to enjoy him that much on screen. Matt will always be Joey to me, he comes across very much a script reader. The other chap, I have no idea what his name is and he adds nothing. I'll watch it if there is literally nothing else on but I don't get excited for Sunday evenings like I used to and that kinda sucks.

I thought they were going to return to the tried and tested Last of the Summer Gear format of three blokes taking the piss out of each other, but it seems mainly to be Matt and Chris doing that with supercars, with Rory relegated to hot hatches. It's working a lot better than series 1 though.
Some stuff still seems decidely forced though: Rory's delivery. Wind it back a bit, mate. Stop trying so hard, just be yourself and tell us the story. Chris's angry driving instructor persona. Not a bad gag but again, soft-pedal it. It kills the joke stone dead if you keep hyping it with "Uh, oh. Time for the grumpy driving instructor". Think how much funnier it would be if they acted too embarrassed to say outright that his teaching manner was terrible, and just skirted around it.

I really enjoy it. I was concerned I wouldn't believe Matt's opinions as he's 'just' an actor, however I find him convincing and I think he genuinely adds some integrity to the show. Sure some of the studio bits are a bit wooden and overly scripted but it's always been like that to an extent and it's only a minor criticism. I still don't really like Rory, I find him a bit hyperactive and annoying and I'm not sure he adds an awful lot; maybe I need more time. Matt and Chris look like they've gelled well and there have been some great features this series. I'd like to see less Rory and a few more cameos from Sabine and EJ though. Overall I think they've managed to bring back a certain level of maturity to this series which has been lacking for a long time, whilst still keeping it playful enough. I've always thought the show gives far too much time to the celebrity guests though.
