Should add I appear to have some 'fairly' modern Sony CD head unit, I don't care for amps etc as rarely have the stereo on so only want to pay around £40 - 60 currently thinking Pioneer, but interested if anyone can recommend something. My current ones simply hiss, haha

Anything 6.5" will work. I've gone for separates which will mean crossovers and tweeters in the top of the door cards, but some 2 ways will be fine too. Car audio security usually have some good deals and kit to suit all budgets. If you're not amplifying then you don't need anything too hardcore.
