This is definitely a project!
As far as I can tell it's rust free !!!!!
The price is £1850. I think this is fair. I've seen rust buckets on ebay go for that and more.
It's located in Southampton.
And I can deliver anywhere in the country for fuel money but will have to discuss that with the buyer. If it's local (LESS THAN 25MILES) I'll do it for nothing.
Its is an amazing opportunity for someone who is willing to put some time and a bit of money into it but the end result will be a super clean desirable and appreciating classic car.
The car left the factory in 1983. In the very early 90s was brought by my Mate who had it on the road for a couple of year till it failed the MOT on something minor but as he was broke at the time he just put it in his mums garage and forget about it.
Fast forward 10 year and he sold it on.
The guy that brought it though he would give it the Euro look.
He stripped it down to the bare shell. Smoothed everything and removed the scuttle pannel. The NSF wing and NS door and front pannel was replaced due to not being good enough for the look the guy wanted.
The rear seat mounts have also been removed.
The car had an after market sun roof. Alot of the MK1s did. It was the 80s and everyone wanted a sunroof.
These were never alot of good. So the guy tred plating the roof but it didn't look good. So he cut the whole skin off and fitted a £500 carbon fibre skin!
He then spent months smooting and sanding. The results are really good. But unfortunately he's painted it the 1k paint. Not ideal. Its lifting in a couple of places. But it's a project.
He then lost intrest in it. So it sat in his mums garage for the next 10 years!
Unfortunately in that time he put the original TSR 1.8GTI lump in to a another MK1 so it's gone.
That's where I come in
So I heard he was getting rid of it. I got excited and brought it with out really thinking what I was going to do with it. I've never be frightened by a project and have built all sorts of hot hatches in he past. But I forgot I am missing the most important thing these days Time.
So thats the history to my knowledge.
What your buying :-
It's a rolling shell
I brought a good used scuttle pannel to replace the missing one.
Theres a Vw 020 gearbox and some drive shafts. Don't know if the flanges are correct.
Theres a full set of seats. Dirty and some rips. Not the worst. Not the best.
Dashboard
Heater box
Lots of bits of interior trim, plastics, panels, new sound proofing.
Body and engine wiring looms
Lights
Steering wheel
Window and door rubbers most of which are in very good condition
Door handles
Glass in trophy green tint.
Bits for the enfine bay
Locks, and original keys
Boxes full of nuts bolts and screws
Wiper motors
Eibach anti roll bars
What I know is missing :-
There is no bonnet
No engine
No carpets
Fuel and brake lines
He cut the scuttle panel out and bineed it and removed the VIN plate from the slam pannel. Bloody Euro boys! I have looked but can't see it in all the stuff dispite assurances it's there! U can get new ones made. And the car comes with a full V5 logbook and a load of paperwork.
I've looked into it and you can have new VIN plates made online. Provide its rivited to the body it will pass the MOT.
I was going to fit the 16V ABF engine or a 1.8t, some buckets and cage, and some sticky tyres and coilover and paint it
Kawasaki green. But it really it's a blank canvas so who ever buys it can go in any direction they want.
Viewing can be done most weekends.
Any Qs please send me a message 07899781527, Brian.
