This is probably a very stupid question, but I got up late and I'm in a muddle.
Is it OK to run without the heatshield on the cat? Jayne's car is rattling like buggery underneath and I haven't got it in the air yet but I assume it's the cat, it's coming from thay general direction. I don't want to start scalding the underseal (or what of it exists)
Or should I just put a silenced decat on and be done with it?

My guess is that it won't be the cat heatshield itself, it'll be the heatshield on the downpipe in front of the cat. A big jubilee clip around the loose end can silence it. When the cat heatshield did eventually break loose I was warned against parking over dry grass without a heatshield, just in case it caught light, but otherwise it's no problem.

I've had the heatshield at the front go on all of mine before. I don't think it's that in this case though the noise seems to be coming from further back, but that being said I haven't had it up on the air to see yet. Whatever it is, it's going to get a treatment from Mr Snips or maybe Mr Grinder.
