Does anyone have a stick on number plater on their bonnet (Mk1 if that makes a difference) and if so any problems from the Police? Also, can you recommend a good place to get one? Been 10 years since I last did it but I had it on the bumper as had no front badge. Cheers

I recall a whole thread on this on a certain other forum, which gave some links to sellers I think I saved the ebay one somewhere, I'll have to check!

Number plate laws are so boring... but remember it's a lesser offence for having lost a plate in a pothole than it is for having a not quite legal one... Now that's out the way, I got mine from Ireland for the Caterham. Show purposes only of course

Cheers guys - have thumbed through the other site and it looks like DMB graphics are highly regarded.
May end up sticking it on the front bumper just below the badge, instead of the bonnet, to avoid any 5 O issues (had it there for years on my last 5 and didn't have a problem)

I'm tempted to get one and stick it where the offset plates usually go - not quite sure it would meet the exact specifications as laid out in the book... but should still be readable and not cause any issues. It's not like the Evo and Alfa offset plates are readable properly from all angles!
Either that or like you say, the appalling road surfaces round here are full of holes so who knows what might happen lol

I don't think they look right on the bonnet, it always seems too high up the front of the car.
But then trying to get one to curve round the bumper is a nightmare!

I will of course also be left with those holes in the bumper from the original JDM number plate holder thingy comes off Hopefully I can find some bungs that will fit.

I've got one on mine from DMB Graphics, never been stopped, and passed MOT a few weeks back fine!

I’ve run a few and prefer the way they look to the plastic plates. Side mount is my preferred plastic plate.
For a stick on one you want it nice and thin as there’s a lot of curves on the front of an MX5.

Thanks for the advice
I was just thinking - I've done the best part of 25,000 miles over the last year or so and can probably count on one hand, perhaps two at a stretch, how many times I've seen a Police car.
What this means, of course, is now that I have no front numberplate (because it's now in a million pieces in the passenger footwell ) I will get stopped tomorrow... LOL

I've just ordered a numberplate from this ebay seller, the longer thin one for the front. I will update my opinion on it. I'm not really expecting that much as it was pretty cheap

Should've got back to you sooner on this. I found the quality wasn't great if im honest but you can definitely get it to work. I would say though that they are made in multiple pieces i.e letters and numbers stuck onto the reflective background as opposed to printed onto it.
