Don't worry about it jackyboy. It wasn't a tight bend, I wasn't pushing it at all as I was in traffic. That's what made it so hairy. Being old school all my cars have been rwd apart from my Landys. I'm quite used to cars stepping out of line. Try driving a Pinto powered Mk1 Cortina with 5.50x13 crossplys . The new tyres seem to fine so far both in the dry and wet so will stick with them for the time being.

Have to say I disagree with the enthusiasm for rainsports having had them before. Sure they grip ok and would certainly be better than the tyres you currently have, but, they ruin the feel on turn in. Much in the same way as toyo T1Rs have a "sporty" looking tread pattern, those tread blocks have canoe all support and wriggle around ruining the feel of the car. I would pay a little more and go for something like the PS3 as mentioned above, or khumo hs51 if on a budget. Rainsports I can't comment don't own a set and never have. Toyo on the other hand are supreme, turn in wise I can make no complaints in fact I have had many more smiles for miles since fitting these tyres than ever before! I think it's all personal opinion and how you drive, because I'm sure a lot of people may also agree with you. In short find something that works for how you drive opinion will only get you so far experience makes the difference Supreme means better than any other, unless you are using the woolly turn in yard stick as the measure, I think you will find them a long way short of supreme.

Again I will state this is my own opinion. They suit the way I drive my car and I am more than happy with them. I don't understand why you feel it's necessary to chime in if you aren't actually providing an opinion on the thread in question. My opinion is my own, I haven't said at any point it is correct and the only one you should take note of. If you're not here to help people then don't bother winding me up with unrsccesary responses. Apologies my choice of words and personal opinion has caused such horrendous backlash. Note to self, don't have own opinion.

Ah yes, but NickD has a little more insight into the subject than just opinion...

Ah yes, but NickD has a little more insight into the subject than just opinion... This might be true......but that doesn't change other people's opinions!

Ah yes, but NickD has a little more insight into the subject than just opinion... Again my point still stands. It's my own opinion this is what the thread was asking for. I'm not saying it us right or wrong it's my opinion. And again another useless reply on a thread which has not completed come away from the original query because we are playing my opinion is better than yours. *claps for everyone*

Step away from the handbags people, step away! NickD has a good point about T1Rs but the problem is not everyone has the chance to try MX5s with different tyres. If you've only ever known T1Rs then they'll seem OK as you understandably don't know any different. I had them on my first MK1 when I bought it and I thought they were pretty good, I'd had them on a. Bunch of FWD hatch backs before as well. I didn't realise how poor they were until I'd swapped to the Kumho HS51s. It wasn't so much about grip, but they transformed the way the car felt and inspired bags more confidence in what the car could do. The T1Rs, on reflection, made th car feel woozy and nervous. Anyway. Peace and love people, peace and love.

Just trying to limit the spread of bad advice, certainly not telling you your opinion doesn't count for anything just simply that your point of reference is somewhat limited... and there is a good technical reason why your recommendation is poor.

So read my response to your original post then and you can see that I said people will sit both sides of the fence so best thing to do is experience it yourself. Jesus aren't half dragging this out are you. Read my response to your post and tell me if I'm spreading bad advice.

I would like to join in on the T1R bashing as I thought they were rubbish but remember when I first started competing in Autosolo, I checked the guy who was taking class wins/FTDs with his mk1 mx5 etc and he was running T1R…..so, I’ll just leave that there and say that they did not suit me but can’t be absolute Log Canoe.

Enough is enough. Thread locked.
In summary. Some people like T1Rs and some don't. We can discuss this all day but when it get's heated then it's time to close the thread and move on.
