While I'm aware I've still not got round to looking at the universal joint thingy kindly put forward as a potential fix in my earlier thread... mighty5s.com/thread/1486/wtb-new-steering-rack
... I was just looking at the price of the tie rods / track rod ends on MX5Parts and they look pretty cheap if one chooses the ILMotorsport option, so I might just get them done anyway.
If I do, is this list comprehensive (for a PAS car)?? (I assume each side is the same so one just needs to order two of everything...?)
Tie Rod End, IL Motorsport, MX5 Mk1 With Power Steering www.mx5parts.co.uk/motorsport-mk1-with-power-steering-p-3881.html £16.16 inc VAT
Track Rod End, IL Motorsport, MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 www.mx5parts.co.uk/track-motorsport-mk1-25-p-3337.html £19.87 inc VAT
Track Rod End Dust Cover, Mazda MX5 Mk1, Mk2/2.5 www.mx5parts.co.uk/track-dust-cover-mazda-mk1-mk2-25-p-1503.html £7.09 inc VAT
Front Upper Arm & Track Rod End Castle Nut, Mk1/2/2.5 (although it looks like the Track Rod Ends come with one already) www.mx5parts.co.uk/front-upper-track-castle-mk1-25-p-3500.html £2.16 inc VAT
Split Pin, MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 www.mx5parts.co.uk/split-mk1-25-p-3464.html £0.42 inc VAT
Apologies for the annoying questions, all help is always very gratefully received!

You don't need the dust cover, that's for replacing one if it's split. New ends obviously have them. Same as castle nut. May be worth getting split pins though as they often break.

If you're taking all that off, I'd also do the steering rack gaitors if they're looking worn.

Cool, thanks for the input, chaps
Looks like this is the list, then!
2x Tie Rod End, IL Motorsport, MX5 Mk1 With Power Steering www.mx5parts.co.uk/motorsport-mk1-with-power-steering-p-3881.html 2x £16.16 inc VAT
2x Track Rod End, IL Motorsport, MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 www.mx5parts.co.uk/track-motorsport-mk1-25-p-3337.html 2x £19.87 inc VAT
2x Split Pin, MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 www.mx5parts.co.uk/split-mk1-25-p-3464.html 2x £0.42 inc VAT
So that's, what, 70 quid? Seems reasonable.
(I can't see any dust cover in the Tie Rod End listing picture, though?)

I'm not sure how I can tell the difference on the screen
Are the cheaper MX5Parts ones thermoplastic?
Steering Rack Gaitor, Aftermarket, MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 [SI6331] www.mx5parts.co.uk/steering-rack-gaitor-aftermarket-mk1-25-p-3101.html £23.42 inc VAT (Comes with both of them in the pair but review says they're a bitch to fit)
And the genuine items proper rubber?
Steering Rack Gaiter, Genuine Mazda, Mk1 With Power Steering [SI2151] Left Hand side (RHD Passenger side) [SI2152/ Right Hand side (RHD Driver's side) www.mx5parts.co.uk/steering-rack-gaiter-genuine-mazda-mk1-with-power-steering-p-869.html £39.12 inc VAT (each)
£80 for two bits of rubber is less reasonable... lol

Sorry, not been on here in a while. I got mind from eBay. Looks like those cheaper ones are the plastic ones. Have a look on ebay, or maybe give autolink a call to source some cheaper rubber ones.

Don't get the rack boots from mx5 parts I just got them and they were crap and don't fit. I went to ecp and they had exactly the same tough plastic ones. So got some universal ones at ecp and they fit great
