Hi
Wanting to get a good look inside the sills and need something like the above title and very unlikely that I'd need such a tool again. But when having a look on eBay I came across the Android Endoscope. Has anyone ever bought one of these and if so, any good ?
Thanks

Used my mate's £7 eBay China special one. It gives a good enough idea of the condition of the sill, however it's not the best. Still better than nothing though

I have one and works quite well. Biggest issue is that they twist when inserting so a thicker one is better (girth is everything!). Watch the software though when you do the installation as often they ask for access to stuff on your phone they shouldn't, so disable anything inappropriate

Have had the endoscope delivered. Have been checking down the sink, radiators and the normal crap you do with a new toy. Then the penny dropped. How do I get access to the inside of the sills on a MK1 ?

I think you need to remove your kick plates and pull back the carpet just inside the door.

Front sills: As Minty says above.
Rear sills: Remove the plastic trim on the seatbelt turrets, behind this is an inspection hole where you can access the inside of the sill. There are three layers inside, but but it's quite easy to see them all through the inspection hole, and you can then just poke the borescope down into each layer to check for corrosion.

Can you record it? If so post up the videos.

Been getting into the nocks and crannies of the sills The 1st two videos are of the rear sill area. 1st is the outer skin and the 2nd is the inner. Condition on both sides was pretty much the same 3rd and 4th are NS and OFF side respectively. Did have a 5th video of up my nose but not sure if you'd want to see that. Have also included some still pictures. From what I can see doesn't look that bad but does need some treatment. Look forward to your opinions and thoughts. flic.kr/p/VyxZuJ flic.kr/p/UzGvm4 flic.kr/p/VyxWcw flic.kr/p/VPhSDn flic.kr/p/VBQgfaflic.kr/p/VPiQf2 flic.kr/p/VKLy5C1st picture, not sure what that is, just hope its dead. 2nd picture is what looks like rust but is directly under the 3rd picture

That doesn't look bad at all to be honest. A few patches of rust but it doesn't seem widespread. I find the borescope often makes things look worse than they are, because you don't have any sense of scale. A small patch of rust can look like a huge expanse of it through the scope.
I'd say some rust-curing treatment followed by a coat of cavity wax should stop that getting any worse
