So Ive just installed my Pionner SPH 120 into my car the other day.
Its worked fine up until this morning. It was playing fine and then skipped a track and no sound, played around with settings and nothing. Turned the car on and back off to reset the unit and still noting. The previous unit that was in the car was working fine until about two months ago, when it had a 'protect' message appear on the screen and wouldn't do anything. I thought this was just an issue with that head unit and as I had the pioneer to go in I wasn't bothered.
But now I have no sound at all, bluetooth, USB or radio. Any ideas if this is a problem with the unit or something with the wiring in the car?
Many thanks
PS anyone know of a good faceplate/cage that doesn't leave a large gap at the bottom of a double din unit?

First thing I would do is check the voltage/current into the back of the unit. Could be a bad earth or dodgy wiring causing a bad connection. I would also check that the speaker + and - cables are not shorting somewhere along their length - a shorted speaker cable can kill a head unit pretty quickly as as it's designed to have a certain amount of resistance between the terminals.
