Had a Tailgate McNoIndicate pull out on me on a NSL road.
Did they just gun it? No. Decided to slam on when they spotted me and STOP DEAD IN MY LANE.
Cue 1.6 pitiful brake slam. Slowed in time and went round them, mouthed "WHAT THE FCK MAN?!" at them, to see them saying back "sorry, sorry".
Not good enough, if I was 2 seconds ahead of where I was we were both dead. Stupid b*tch.
And I don't even commute anymore, this was just a social drive. Ruined my buzz.

Oh and all those BELLENDS on the Devil's Dyke A27 roundabout who see you coming and pull out anyway. Happens 90% of the time I go around it.

But I thought that every 'situation' could be made much safer by stopping? Like at the end of a slip road onto a 70mph dual carriageway? Or in lane three of the motorway when a police car with blues-and-twos is behind you? Or when a car two cars back has overtaken the car behind you and is trying to pull in behind you?
No?
canoeing retards.
This sounds basically exactly like what happened to me before - I was doing 'some speed' down a decently well-sighted NSL A-road when doddering old fool ferrying three other OAPS around pulled out and crawled up to 30mph at most.
I had to stand on the brakes, lock up and pray, and then come off the brakes to swerve round them on the opposite side of the road to avoid them because I wasn't going to stop in time.
I can only praise the chap on the other side of the road - he was coming up some distance away and must have seen the billowing tyre smoke from my (super-soft) Toyo T1-S because he'd slowed right down and given the whole situation space, which meant that I had a clear carriageway to swerve into. If it had been busy or there had been a lorry coming the other way, I dread to think what the outcome would have been.
Yes, I should have braked earlier and perhaps trimmed some speed past the junctions - lesson derived from the experience and noted for future reference - but it would have been fine if he had actually looked both ways and/or pulled out with some decent vigour.
Grrr.

I wrote my first rag-top (a Rover ) off in a similar situation. I was the last of 3 cars building speed on a slip road in wet conditions, picking up speed to approx. 60/65 to join dual carriageway when at the very last second the lead car decided to come to a complete full STOP! 2nd car (ABS) narrowly avoids hitting it, I (no ABS) cant avoid hitting 2nd car. First car then drives off as we're getting out to check no one hurt. ARRRFFFGHHHHH FFFFFFKKKK!!!!

I wrote my first rag-top (a Rover ) off in a similar situation. Tale of woe. ARRRFFFGHHHHH FFFFFFKKKK!!!! Similar experience some years back in the 2CV but fortunately no bad ending. LATE ONE EVENING IDIOT Tailgate McNoIndicate DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME DOING 70MPH IN OUTSIDE LANE OF M4 EASTBOUND DOES EMERGENCY STOP FOR NO APPARENT REASON, MAKING ME DO EMERGENCY STOP I WAS SO CLOSE TO HITTING THEM, IT MUST HAVE BEEN A MATTER OF INCHES, MY LIFE FLASHED BEFORE MY EYES TYPE CLOSE. GUY BEHIND IN A POOJET 206 ALSO HAS TO EMERGENCY STOP TO AVOID ME AND GOES IN TO CENTRAL RESERVATION THANKFULLY SOFTLY. CUNTING Tailgate McNoIndicate DRIVER ZOOMS OFF LIKE THEY DIDN'T JUST COME TO A FULL STOP ON THE CanoeING M4, LEAVING ME AND POOJET DRIVER TO HUG IT OUT ON THE HARD SHOULDER HAPPY TO BE ALIVE.
