Today I tried to get the aftermarket stereo that came with my 96 1.8 NA to work. When I connected the two looms to the ISO cable and then to the stereo the stereo powers on and aerial comes up but no sound.
When I disconnect the loom for the headrest speakers I get sound to the front speakers but my electric windows and aerial stop working.
In the loom that is meant to just be for the headrest speakers I have lots of other wires are these likely to be for the electric windows and aerial? If this is the case is this normal or a botch job?

That sounds very odd
Can you take a picture of the connectors you are referring to?
Try swapping the red and yellow wires on the stereo loom (there should be some bullet connectors somewhere on the ISO adapter loom for that)

I'll grab a photo tonight but after a fair bit of extensive research I am thinking this is an aftermarket install and tracing of wires will be required!

Right power antenna sorted, there was no power from the stereo to that wire! Electric windows still not working however and I suspect a ground issue and potentially a blown circuit somewhere picture to follow!

All sorted! Stripped the car down and traced all wires! Believe it or not all is standard bar this connector. Basically inbetween the electric windows and radio and their respective battery termination points an after market alarm was installed! I have managed to use a few online documents and get it back to something nearing standard and lo and behold no longer getting interference!
