I know this is a date clash with 5Fest, sorry Horney, but is anyone else entered in this?
I'll be there double driving with my brother- very possibly switching to 1Bs too.....

The swear filter has gone overboard on the title!!
I will be at 5fest but most of my fellow mx5 challenge competitors are doing it, will be a lot of 5s there

I normally do it but it clashes with my HSA championship visit to Wiscombe this year which is a shame I was hoping to get into the 70s this year, all though the tyre barriers introduced this year would likely temper my enthusiasm in the chicanes as it did at GWS.
If you want some idea for reference times from the 2017 setup you can use the times shown for the int 1 times from the Great Western Sprint that ran earlier this year, that is the same portion as DMS.

Which 1Bs?
I was competing at Blyton this weekend and one of the guys Dean was running those Extreme VR2 on his mk1, they were super sticky and seemed to get great temp into them, got quite hot even in the cooler morning run, my tyres were stone cold

Thanks for that Sandy, that's given me something to aim for-early 70ies. Got a newish set of AD008Rs that came with the car so am going to use those (if it's forecast dry). I've been speaking to the guys at MeisterR about changing the springs to get the best out of the tyres.
I was at Prescott in May & there was a bloke there on those tyres in a turbo MX5 but I did a few fag packet calculations & he should've been 1.5secs quicker than he was.....
Ah, Blyton, my new favourite track. MX5s are a riot around that circuit.
Good luck at Wiscombe mate!

Don't be afraid to use the Yokos in the Wet if they are quite new, I've been quicker on those in the wet than when I was running Continental contisport 5, unfortunately they've not been much better in the dry, at least for me, the warm up is too long for a sprint. This may be that the reduction in tread cuts over CSC5 means there's not enough movement in the blocks to heat up with my excessive tyre width though as they are pretty good when lapping at a trackday. I missed my target at Prescott, got a new PB of 52.8, I set myself loftier goals though, I seem to like the disappointment of not achieving them Jons MX5 turbo did a 49 something Blyton is a good track, very tricky generally, fast corners, there were two layouts this weekend, one was the Eastern, never done that before, Curva grande, very tricky as was its first chicane. I'll need luck at Wiscombe to fend off David Newmans offensive in his mk1, he did a low 52 at Prescott and reckon he might have got in the 51s until he had brake failure and crashed it, he's out for my blood

Good stuff, I had a look at your times, you were definitely on the pace , you would have been 2nd in the full fat A3 class also, will be interesting to see your onboard as we do similar times Clearly your weather was better than ours we were 6 secs of the required pace at Wiscombe yesterday, much wetness.

We were lucky with the weather, just a few spots of rain after T1, which was very fortunate as I'd nearly had the car off track at high speed thru hammerdown- just caught it. Also, the guy next to me in the paddock had a drurometer(tyre testing thingy) & he tested the rainsports that are still on the car. Turns out they are the softests list 1A tyres...... So, although the car moves about a lot on them, we will stick to using them as opposed to having to go 2.5% faster if we switch to 1Bs.

Looks like you were lucky over the rise, well held together looks like you dabbed in the wrong place, not watched with audio yet, but you could of gone over on the power or at least balanced throttle and then got the braking done after the rise with the car settled but that's something to work up to, a dab top of the rise is a real butt clencher and often people end backwards in the wall. I've done similar when thinking I've gone in too hot but actually loads of road after. I see they gave you the space to use the kerbs, great, the tyres ruined GWS for me in March, they had a wall of tyres up to the Apex.
