Hi. Just was wondering if anyone has tried to completely wrap their own car not just panels ? (Doesn't have to be an MX5) If so I would like to know what you did and how it turned out. Thanks

Thanks I havent wrapped a whole car but did try to wrap the sideskirts and some other bits on my old ST - was not easy, with any slight change of profile its really difficult to get a nice even curve or edge even with a heat gun. i gave up in the end. Its harder than it looks - personally to look good you probably need someone with experience to at least help, also i think there are different grades of vinyl - dont use the cheap stuff!!

Yeah things always look easy on YouTube ! Have a couple of proper suppliers of car wrapping vinyl details on file and would be staying well clear of the eBay sellers. Think your advice is good advice. Thanks.

I thought about it, and then I did the boot panel and decided against it. Harder than the Internet makes it look.
I reckon I'll go plastidip instead

As an alternative have a look at Matt-Pack.co.uk, they sell Plasti Dip and Full Dip (cheaper alternative that I think is better to be honest). You can buy a spray gun made specifically for dip for £80, then you need 2 tins of 4ltr dip to cover an mx5. A tin is £50 so all in you're looking at £180. That would be for a simple matte finish. You can add metalizer and pearl pigments if you wanted to for like £10! They even have proper gloss you can put on but apparently that takes a bit more skill to spray on.
The Davefab mx5 is wrapped and looks great! Might be worth having a chat with them.
