So here's the thing I think my rear shocks are on the way out, Seem a tad bouncy, it is only a second hand mk2 suspension with 1 coil cut Do I Replace with OEM mk2 shocks keep springs replace with OEM MK2 shocks and new lowering springs Or smash the credit card and go Meister? I sort of know the answer but am looking for justification!!!! ππΌπ

Smash the credit card I reckon Ask James for a test drive of his next weekend at Combe, he has CRDs, I'm sure he'll be accommodating, might help you make a choice.

Not at Combe next weekend - it's 5fest at Llandow James is certainly a lot quicker than me but I think much of that is probably the driver! i do notice that his car does seem a lot more planted.

Fill your boots driving my car at 5fest bud you can see what they are like Also meisters do 0% finance over a year which is 65 a month, so not necessarily need to smash the credit card

As a budget solution, I've found the mk2 topmounts, shocks and springs (with 1.25 coils off, I think) to be very good. Firm but not hard, still plenty comfortable for the missus, even with polybuahes. The only downside seems to be that it is not very 'flowing' over a road, if you know what I mean. You don't crash from bump to pothole to bump like in something slammed on the bumpstops, but it never feels very 'settled' unless on very smooth roads, which is not the point of the 5 - it's supposed to be quick and flowing along nadgety B-roads, not just smooth, high-speed A-roads... I think increasing the spring rate by chopping coils off might be part of the issue - I actually think it would be better with softer springs, even though the immediacy of turn-in is good on firmer springs. I'm not sure what options might be - replacement, lowered mk2 springs might work, but not many manufacturers publish their spring rates. I'm wondering if some custom-wind, progressive springs might be the best solution - softer at the top so absorb smaller bumps better, still firm at the bottom so it can deal with larger bumps. Anyway, none of this is really giving you the affirmation you are seeking for the coilovers

I can confirm Wannabes suspension felt quite nice from the passenger seat. I've had P5 pure drive, gasz gold pro, and Meisters. The Meisters are probably the nicest all round shock I've had and I don't even have the latest ones.

Do 0% on some meisters. Put down whatever deposit you can to lower the monthly payments and sorted!

As above
My Meisters were second hand and I was amazed by the difference they made over standard shocks with Apex springs
And with the adjustableneas you can simply turn them up to hard for track and back them off again when driving normally
