I love the look of the semi slick tyre, BUT is this kind of tyre a wise choice for normal A & B road use ? My car will never be on wet roads (unless I get caught out by the weather) and very unlikely to be used at a track day. I have seen some tyre threads get a little bit intense. So just to reiterate my question is this kind of tyre good for normal road driving. Thanks

Yeah it's fine. They wear a bit more quickly. They are useless on wet leaves. They are ok in the wet. However... normal road tyres are just fine.

Not being critical but am interested to know that if you are never going on track why would you want semi-slicks? I have being doing a fair bit of research on tyres - I have the issue that i do track stuff plus use mine as an occasional daily drive and i am in a championship class that requires the use of list 1a tyres only When you weigh it all up the only single tyre that will perform well in all situations and is list 1a is the Michelin PS3, about £60 per corner so not too bad there are cheaper options I have had Rainsports - great in the wet just OK in the dry, Toyo T1R fine in the dry, not good in the wet. (this is all referring to 195 50 15s) The MSA lists are a good start point for tyres - they tend to be decent quality brands - list 1a - good all rounders, list 1b track focussed road legal (i think!). download the yearbook here www.msauk.org/News-Publications/Publications/MSA-Yearbooks

Sorry, just reread your opening statement and you have answered my question, it's because you like the look - fair enough - if you like them go for it.

Defo no point in spending a lot of money on semi slicks if they won't see a track. Youlle never reach their potential on the road unless your driving like a lunatic, which is not ideal..
I would suggest getting some and trying a bit of track time out. Youlle love it!
They do look awesome though if you just like the look of them haha.

Thank you gentlemen, you've answered my question. Will never get full potential from them from not being on a track environment or driving like a lunatic where they'll get worked hard( Maybe I will do a track day Mr Jackyboy) The fact that they would be OK to use on the road is cool. Thanks again.

I think good road tyres are best for you (and me these days) you will rarely reach the limits on the road in the dry, but in the wet any of us could be caught out (stopping distances etc)

AD08R aren't a proper semi slick, they are a good compromise for the road, reasonable life, good tread depth for water and importantly for you a nice tread pattern, or get something normal that looks good like Parada Spec 2.
