Ok, before we carry on... I used to reside on nuts... Until I reviewed something one day and all the mods had a tantrum. So I'm deleting all my stuff from there and transferring it here. There will be some copy and paste and I do a lot I don't even write about, so if you want to know something...just post up and ask. You're probably not the only one. To introduce myself properly, this is me... I'm a 32 year old man from the midlands. I had a silver mk1 but I really fancied a black one, so the day my silver car passed its MOT, this was delivered. This isn't quite how it looked. I spent a couple of days cleaning it and removing various stickers and generally tidying it up. I also swapped the wheels. First drive We then ended up with a drive full of fives so my other black one had to go... I've swapped most of the interior now from my other car. Including Mk2.5 leather seats, with the heated elements wired in. It was on the Combustion Punks stand at the Autumn MX5 owners club rally. This picture was taken by Alex Matravers www.facebook.com/amatraversphotography/ I removed the melted on rear bumper from the exhaust. Painted the TSIs and wing mirrors Not bad for rattle cans... I had a custom camo sticker made in the same style as the original Mazda one. I made my car on need for speed look like the one I had parked outside. Then i put the car into storage for a while, to keep it out of the coldest weather. This sucked. Once out it needed minimal effort to bring the shine back. Me and the Mrs (also an MX5 owner) went to Curborough with the owners club. These pictures were by Alex Matravers www.facebook.com/amatraversphotography/

I bought some mk2.5 svt brakes. I Stripped them and took them to a friend of mine to be blasted at his company www.enviroblastuk.com he asked me if I got them from the bottom of a lake. Nigel (who runs enviroblast) loves to dress as a spaceman which is why this job suits him so perfectly. I came to see him and pick up my freshly blasted calipers and carriers They were painted and fitted with all new parts.

hi looking great, what did you use to clean the melted plastic off the exhaust? Cheers. I used a blow torch and a stanley blade - carefully. Its quite straight forward, I removed the whole rear box and then used mothers mag metal polish, the stuff is amazing. I've got a HKS Super Drager exhaust to do too. I'll post up once I've done it.

Cheers for the replies. lol I hope to meet the guys from Dave Fab, We'll all have a picture together. I came home today to a very nice package from Autolink. Hopefully I'll be getting these fitted along with the brakes this weekend. I'll also take pictures of the car as it currently stands as I've missed loads of bits off. Its back in storage at the minute but I'll go get it out tomorrow.

So its been quite a busy month - its not all gone to planned. I was my birthday the end of July and the Mrs went all out with the cake... The MeisterRs went on, with some interesting challenges. The bottom bolts on both rear shocks had stripped threads, which meant they wouldn't come out. Prompting some head scratching and utilising my wide variety of tools, techniques and swear words. I decided after seeing some of the camber bolts, to replace them all with mk2 bolts, which have a finer thread and a different locking mechanism to stop the bolt deforming. They were all fitted and copper slipped in time for the 4 wheel alignment.. until I got a call saying the place I had booked it into had broken their machine. So after calling round a few places, I made an appointment with Shark Performance in Mansfield the next day. They have the coolest toilet roll holder I've seen. They mainly do german cars (explaining why the exhaust manifold has 5 ports). The car took a bit longer than expected but they were decent guys and they've done a top job. I've also started replacing the coolant hoses with silicone ones as on a couple of occasions now the old ones started to leak. I transferred my alloy rad into there too. Letting the car cool a bit... Now that I've had a chance to spend some time with the car, i've really fallen for it. The way it holds the road is superb. So today is got a good clean and I went to a local high point for some arty shots. I'll make more of an effort to take pictures and update this a bit more often. Coldy

I once again suck at taking pictures so this is a brief update. I always enjoy seeing the workmanship of others which is prevalent on mx5s it seems as people love to promote the philosophy that they're easy to work on. They are, but only if you know what you're doing... I don't think whoever did this had a clue. I repaired all the wires and got rid rid of the potential fire hazard. I also changed the plugs, looks like it was not a moment too soon... The Fusso I applied months ago is still going strong, this stuff really delivers, I was sceptical when I saw on the fanboys but it really is that good. It makes it very easy to bring back the shine.

So off into hibernation goes the car for the next week or so. I've used two car covers, a soft one underneath and an outdoor one over the top. Even if the cover does move it should not mark the paint work. as if by magic. This is what i'm hoping to avoid.
