Is that a 7 next to the Polo? It could well be. Its not mine, so I won't be touching it. Where's that, a pigeon factory? I'm looking to borrow a bird of prey to take them down...

After working away for a while it was time to get the 5 out of its covers and have a tinker before it goes away for the winter. It was time to decide on a new knob, we all like to compare knobs from time to time. A standard mk1 I was using A Lonza one I bought a cleaned up Finally, a leather 5 speed of unknown origins. I re finished the leather on the front face. You can also see the gearshift gaiter I had with the Sspecial logo embroidered into it. I settled on the leather one, its very similar to the Nardi one the car should be wearing. Another little part I really like is a small cover for the trip reset. Its not that easy to see but it has the roadster logo engraved into it. It is supposed to be held in place with a bit of blue tack pushed into a hole on the underside but I didn't like that idea so I tapped the hole and fitted a tiny grub screw to hold it in place. Its a much better solution, although I had to modify an allen key to fit in the small space. I may remove it and paint the roadster logo so it stands out more. I've been meaning to clean the engine up for a while. I started with the radiator. Before. I polished it and fitted the Mazda Menders sticker I've had hanging around for a while. I also took the car to Thrussington garage for them to align the wheels, I found some black ice on sunday night and hit a kerb. Luckily very little damage but the alignment was out. They were really good guys and if you need work in Leicester doing, give them a shout. I'd have been burned on nuts for that...

So I put the car away.... But I got bored and It came out again. I've been staying busy repainting some track wheels, they'll do for now, next time I'll blast and powder coat them. They came out well with the centres my friend sent me as he ordered the wrong ones. I was so happy to get the car out earlier. I had to build some small ramps to lift it over the edge of the hanger. Plenty of jobs for tomorrow... Coldy

So before I went away I painted the front lip. It looks much better now. Whilst I was away I started the process of importing a new stable mate for my MX5, a 98 spec Integra Type R. The day I returned I saw one sat all alone in tesco car park late at night, the next day it was still there with the bonnet up so I went and had a chat with the owner. It turned out it needed a new battery so I gave owner a hand and made a car fwend.

When I got the car the wheels were scabby and I just replaced them with the wheels from my old 5. The wheels then sat in storage for a long time. With not much going on at work I decided it was time to work on car stuff. So after being rubbed down... Primed. Painted and lacquered. I added some Rota stickers and fitted them to the car. Before and after... The centre caps a mate sent me were no good once the wheels were fitted so I'm in the process of sorting some alternatives. I also had a new cupholder that needed putting together. The first job was to strip and paint the bottom as the finish was poor. Stripped, primed and painted. This is the top which isn't ready to go on yet. I want it fixed more firmly to the base than the sticky pads supplied. Just waiting on some trick little bolts. I had to replace a missing cap on the roof mechanism. I had a small occasional dribble. On the way back home I got a nice shot as the sun went down. I'm falling for this car all over again.

Thanks to the Clio and sorting various cars I'm long overdue in updating this.... I also forgot the MOT renewal date, luckily I wasn't driving round for 6 weeks after the MOT had run out... I booked the Roadster in for its MOT which it only failed on emissions, as they used regulations for a 2005 car (the year it was imported). After two weeks of back and forth, the DVSA (which replaced the DVLA) confirmed as the car is an import it must have a non cat test, the garage then agreed to redo the test, so now its back on the road! Boy are these cars great!!! Whilst I do love the Clio, its a very capable car, I feel so involved when I drive the little black car, its addictive. Anyway, lets look at loads of pictures. Heres the car cooling off at Blyton. Blyton was excellent fun, although compared to the majority of cars there, this was slow in a straight line, although the way it clings on round corners is sooooo much fun. I took an early morning drive to Shrewsbury, just because. I've now got use of this workshop in Shropshire so a lot of jobs will be completed when the car comes off the round in winter. A couple of projects (apart from the red Clio) are more car purchases I made recently... The first being a normal Renault Clio Sport 182 I found resting in Swindon, I tracked down the owner and bought the car from him, I couldn't bare to see it like that. It had a lot of mould but underneath is a really good car. After spending a couple of hours o the outside, it came up really well. Theres still a lot of work to be done to get it roadworthy. The day I bought her. Once I'd given the car a good clean. I also ended up buying an Integra Type R, it started off as a bit of a joke with a lad at work...then I bought his car.... This is the current view outside the flat. I saw this boot at Japfest, Donnington. I can't get the idea out of my tiny mind... I bought my nephew a 'young drive' driving day at Donnington, seemed rude not to take the MX5... The instructors even jokingly asked if they could use that instead of minis.

Recently the cars had a new Mohair roof fitted, I've removed the speedo converter and fitted a uk dial face so I use more of the speedo sweep. I'm off to pembrey tomorrow so I gave the car a good clean, fitted the track wheels and played with the camera.
