For the record, I'm aware this could be the most pathetic start to a build thread in the history of motoring forums. Anyway, when I got the car it had those nasty chrome styling hoop thingys bolted to the parcel shelf. Off they came and one can of matt black plasti dip later (only just enough), transformed into something, umm... slighly better? Oh yeah, and I changed the steering wheel from a 350mm to a 320mm. Watch this space for further exciting modifications!

Superb way to transform those unpleasant shiny chrome hoops - good job

STANCE!
The et45 14inch wheels were really set too far inside the arches, so picked up 2 sets of 20mm spacers from ebay for £100. I had a chance to have a proper look at the coilovers and I think they're fairly cheap £300 raceline units, the car sits and rides really well though, so no complaints. I think the high profile tyres must help the ride too.

Lovely wheels Cheers, they look ok in pics and they pass the 20ft test, but up close and personal they're pretty poor. I've used wonder wheels, which helped but I really need a professional job done on them (therefore not by me). I keep swinging between satin black or that bronze colour some use for these wheels.

Or a grey of some sort??? (Sorry!)
I think any colour would look good. I love the small wheel look. Keep up the good work!

This has made my mine up that I need spacers for my et45 wheels. So you reckon 25mm would be perfect for 14" et45?

Yeah, yeah, then you can swap them for my 20mm's hehe! 20mm or 25mm will be fine, I'm just saying 25's cos I reckon I could have pushed it that far, I'm happy with how it looks and 20's won't rub. One weird thing, I have manual steering which I now love, and the spacers seem to have lightened it up a bit at parking speed, which is a bonus.

Every build thread starts with the first step, so it's not pathetic at all. Nice work on the hoops, 100% better than the nasty chrome. The only thing I'd question is, do you have enough bite with your nuts having now fitted the spacers ? Wheels colour wise if they were mine would defiantly keep as they are now, but having said that satin black would look bad ass !
