Another ex nutz member here, but I was never a massively active member. Had my '99 NB for just over five years. Bought it bone stock off an old lady with just 23k on the clock. It's now at about 60k, most of which is mileage not as a main car. It's done two trips to the ring, including the GP circuit, track days at Llandow, Brands, Cadwell and activity days at North Weald. Car is on Billstein shocks and Eibach springs (although I'm after some coilovers for more adjustability), currently on e30 BBS wheels and running Yoko Parada Spec 2s (my favourite affordable tyre). Got an MX5 parts dual exit backbox with a centre silencer delete, a cut out rear bumper. TR lane bar, sparco F104 seats and an old sparco 4 point harness. Engine wise I'm running a Skuzzle tuned ME221 on a standard 1.8 engine, just a K&N intake. I have both supercharger parts and turbo parts basically ready to go on...not sure what direction to take the car! By way of saying hello, here's something you don't see that much a 360 video of my 5 at the ring, watch it on a phone and pan it around to watch me getting chopped by loads of 911s... Even though the brain says I should sell this car and get something 'better'...I've built a bond with it, so it's going to stay for the long term and I'll keep modifying it :-)

Hello mate. Welcome!
Did you find it worthwhile running management on the standardish engine?

Hi! Doing it right, not worrying about mods too much and just getting out and driving.

Hello mate. Welcome! Did you find it worthwhile running management on the standardish engine? I got a 12WHP gain from a professional (Skuzzle) map on an ME221, but my car was making good power on the stock ECU as it's low mileage. I wouldn't want one without access to a decent tuner - I wasn't impressed with the basemaps available, and I had an ECU that failed too and needed replacing. Very straightforward physical installation though. Not bad, but not worth the £600 (ECU) and £300 (Tune) on a standard engine if you have no plans....however, what it gives me is the flexibility to do more tuning in future and I'll already be well set-up on the aftermarket ECU. In short, without any other mods, not worth it, if you ever plan to go FI, or ITB or other tuning, then it's worthwhile as a way of spreading the upfront costs, and gives you a chance to check your standard engine is making healthy power before you do any more. Another bonus is a slightly higher rev limiter, and a softer and faster responding limiter too, which makes driving at the limit better.

Thanks for the run down mate. Makes perfect sense I'll decide if I want fi or itbs before I invest. Enjoy the forum
