I want to fit a pair of 6" speakers (Revlimmiter style) but have a Project M roll bar fitted and do not want to have to remove it to gain access to the tank cover bolts.
I'm thinking 150mm hole saw straight through the panel then feed the wires through the centre console
Two questions.
1. Has anyone done this
2. Any risk of hitting wiring etc when cutting through the cover?

I had some speakers fitted on the rear of my first MX.
I did however remove the metal panel, which obviously you don't want to do.
Don't hold me to it, but as far as I'm aware you have little chance of hitting any wiring, as it's all routed round the sides. I know this because when fitting a roll bar onto said car I cut into the main live feed from the batter. Very smokey dead battery after that.
The panel is made of pure cheese anyway, when I fitted speakers it was as you say a quick hole through and then tin snip the rest out until the speaker fits, then 4 holes for the screws, with some of those things that you screw screws into clipped over the holes. No idea what they are but they are basically a clip with a hole and it slots over the hole and they are threaded.

Thanks I didn't think there was any risk of hitting anything, just needed reassuring, not sure what difference they'll make pointing straight up but I miss my seat mounted speakers since swapping the interior

If you look from the boot forward you can see where all the wires sit
