Apparently the MK2 transmission tunnel gusset has its own part number and has been welded into mk1s before according to a quick Google I did earlier
I'm sure you can find the part number somewhere

NC10-54-770A rear gusset for Mk2, and N067-54-770B rear gusset for Mk2.5
However, looks like they're no longer available, so guess would need to find a breaker and remove somehow.

I mooted removing a gusset from a mk2 previously on Nutz and the response was basically that it isn't worth removing one
