If you ever get the chance. Visit Ypres and the surrounding areas.
Haunting.

I've never been but my brother did many years ago and found it very emotional and poignant.

If you ever get the chance. Visit Ypres and the surrounding areas. Haunting. Ypres is a strange place to visit if you happen to be reading about world war 1 at the time, the town was rebuilt brick for brick but your imagination tell's you it should be a pile of rubble. The peace pool at Passchendaele is very eerie

Everyone should go to these places and see the ruined landscape at places like Hill 60 and it really puts it into perspective. Seeing how close the lines were and how many thousands died to advance mere feet. Horrific.
We go over to Belgium for the Beer (Bruges), but make an effort to visit some of the WWI sites. Haven't done the museum in Ypres itself yet as it was closed when last went.
