Evening Gents, I'm hoping I can get some advice for prepping a car to take part in race events next year. I'm looking to enter the armed forces race challenge (regulations can be found here www.armedforcesracechallenge.net/regulations/). Looking to enter a class C car which would be 180bhp/ton, thinking about building an MX5 would be a natural thought. How many people have built their own car for competition on here? by early in the new year I should have a relatively large, well equipped workshop in which to build a suitable car. If anyone has done the same I would love some input! Cheers Coldy

Never prepped a car (or anything for that matter) for the track although many moons ago a friend and I dreamed of racing a sidecar outfit (big ideas no money) and the advice we received from all the racers in the paddock was leave the engine stock and drive it standard until you get the best out of the chassis
Matia.net probably a good place to start searching

Cheapest way is to pick up a car that’s already had an MSA spec cage fitted etc.
I’ve built a few with Skuzzle and the roll cage is the only real ball ache. The rest is just spanners and wiring.
