I purchased a taster MX5 session for me and my dad, as both of us have never driven in anger on a track. We went to Rockingham and it was apparently busier than usual with with the 'Great British Motor Cars' club track day as well as some Ginetta Racing Teams on the track. It was only 20 mins in a mk2.5 N/A some very much appreciated instruction, it was much faster and harder than expected. The speed on the track is insane, so glad I did this before I took my MK1 to the track on my own.
It has totally made me reevaluate my goals for the car, I have no need for a turbo yet. First thing is to sort the handling out and spend more hours on the track with an instructor.
Slightly buzzing after that and I got home 4 hours ago.

Nothing like a track day and/or some training to make one realise how much improvement one could make lol Glad you had fun!

You should come to wales with us for our trackday then! Yeah I might do but I have an engine problem to fix first. If I get it done in the next month I'll book myself on the track day.

Well done, hopefully you will.be doing many more!
I was lucky enough to do my first one with in a mates car and he was pretty experienced so helped me get used to it all. Rockingham was my first track too and I think it's great for firs timers as it has most types of corners plus you can sometimes also get on the skid pan in the centre of the circuit for extra fun

Its a bug that once bitten you will never recover from!! I can remember my first trip round combe in my 5 - i thought I was driving fast, then I went out with a pro driver (also in a 5) and realised what sort of speeds can be achieved, as you say its seems insane to start with! LLandow 5fest would be perfect for you - with nearly all 5s it would be a great learning experience and loads of fun

Llandow 5fest is a great trackday to book onto. If your new to trackdays its a very good track to learn on and bring the confidence up.

Yeah I definitely need more track time to feel comfortable, it's a completely different style of driving.
The instructor took me out and showed what the car can do, it was Canoeing frightening. Will definitely do it again, just need to fix the engine.
It's either, gasket, valves or rings. Better get cracking.
