been thinkin on the eps conversion some more... mighty5s.com/post/44297/threadplaying with Corsa 'B' column now, more to follow.... also... thought it about time I tried one of the Compomotive MO (7x15" et 38?) wheels on the car to see if I like them, had a random 'spare' tyre in the garage so fitted to the wheel then onto the car.... unsure if I like them, will give it a few days..... Rich.

Aren't the MOs pretty heavy by way of being strong for motorsport? I did think about them myself but the potential weight thing put me off. You could paint them bright orange

other projects, I'm rebuilding the gearbox for a friend's Mk2 Cortina Lotus, its the '3 rail' (so called the 2000E or 'bullet') type with cast steel casings and '2000E ratio's with a 2.9:1 first gear. so a few hours work in the sandblasting-cabinet and some lovely clean parts the car has been off the road for about 10 years for an engine rebuild (the iconic Ford / Lotus 'twin cam') but it was a 'no hurry build, so nothing has been done! anyway, I offered to give the gearbox a refresh as it was easily removed & it was a good call... the box worked fine & was probably quiet (although it's hard to hear anything ovet the twincam's webber carb soundtrack!) BUT when stripped I noticed the layshaft spindle & it's needle-roller bearings were badly worn - luckily the laygear's bearing tunnel bores were not worn and serviceable. so the 'quick' refresh of seals & gaskets has developed into a few hunderd £'s worth of new parts... will paint the casings tuesday then build probably thursday... Rich. continuation of the build... the 'guts' awaiting refitting. painted ready for assembly, 'cooked' in the sun built & ready to fit, now sorting the engine.... Rich.

mighty5s.com/post/44349/threadmore eps progress and painted a pre-sandblasted pair of front uprights, removed studs & abs rings from hubs. and also have the gearcase & top cover for my Ford type 9 base straight-cut / close-ratio gearbox (using all new internals, bearings/selectors/baulk-rings/nos Ford mainshaft & layshaft spindle with Tran-x gearkit and a solid operating block) that I've been building for ~15+ years. was looking at fitting in the Eunos but change of plans to free up some funds Rich.

more toys... trawling ebay found a wrongly listed ARP bolt-stretch guage so a cheeky offer later... and it was counter-offered anyway, now waiting for it to be delivered wanted one of these for ages but refused to pay the stupid prices asked (even for secondhand!), will get its first use when I assemble the Honda B16 rods & pistons into the Mazda B6 engine.......... so sometime in the distant future Rich.

bit more done on the Ford type 9 / Tran-x gearbox build this was considered for the Eunos but was dropped (will miss the noise!) for a few reasons... anyway, no usefull progress on the 5 except sandblasting some rear hubs... Rich.
