Well, its a blistering hot Sunday in Lincoln. Russia go through on penalties and I'm sitting in the garden typing this as the Red Arrows blast across the sky on their way home to Scampton......a good day to join this forum and hopefully gain some knowledge and even give advice if I can. My car is a 1999 Icon in Art Vin Mica....I'll post some pics shortly guys, but for now - hi ! Mark. I'm here after a simple question asked over on another forum resulted in an expletive laden rant of a response - from a Moderator !!!!! www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?s=1dca6084dbe8e433652ea0a053f656b4&showtopic=382661

Welcome! Nice polish and wax job if that's your bonnet in your avatar! Cheers, thats kind of you. In this heat though I've had a bit of milkiness appearing in the lacquer which I'll have to sort when things cool down. Looking at it I might have to resort to a wet sand (gulp).

I had a BRG bonnet go milky and wet sand was the only cure sadly.
Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys ! There are small jobs to do to the bodywork (in the usual places) but that can wait until the Autumn, so I'm not too worried whether the bonnet can be rectified as there will be some painting going on anyway. It seems to be localised to the centre (hottest part ?) of the bonnet. Its a while since I've had the machine polisher out so if nothing else it will be a way of keeping my hand in I suppose.

I had bird poo literally pull paint off when I cleaned it off, so now I have a different colour patch showing through! lol My bonnet is ruined anyway, though - looks more matte poster paint than proper paint finish now! I think it's had a replacement front end off a different colour car, as the bumper has paint flaking off and the same colour underneath
