Hoping someone can offer some advice...
I'm in the middle of a major rebuild at the mo. I need new bushes as I'd got cheap eBay crap that have now been binned (I know, live and learn). My car will mostly be used on road, got a couple of long distance tours planned already, with the odd track day here and there maybe once or twice a year. I've got Meister R coilovers that will go onto the new build, but I'm in a quandary over what bushes to get. Do I go for the IL Motorsport uprated rubber jobbies or do I go SuperPro? I've actually already bought a full SuperPro kit, as Moss had them massively reduced last week, but I've been doubting my purchase ever since. Can anyone offer some opinion on just how harsh the SuperPros will be in comparison to the ILMs? Will the SuperPros offer enough compliance to make for a (relatively) comfy ride over a long distance with the Meisters set to a soft setting?
Thanks in advance.

On road car I’d go IL uprated rubber. Poly stuff is great in track but too much NVH and maintenance for a road car.

I am going to disagree with the boss man Full superpro kit is absolutely fine for on-road driving IMHO - the feedback through the steering is more granular, and as long as you're not crashing into potholes or driving on mile after mile of those old dual carriageways with sharp transverse ridges/dips every 10 yards, they aren't at all annoying Yes, they make the car 'fizz' a little more through the seat of your pants, but it just means that you can really 'feeeeel' the road surface. Occasionally they are annoying (such as on those roads mentioned above) but the increased sharpness of steering and handling at all other times more than outweighs any disadvantages for me.

Thanks for the replies guys, although I’m still in 2 minds! Haha!
I don’t doubt that the ILM bushes are more compliant that the SuperPros for road use, being rubber and all, but that is interesting what you’re saying about the SuperPros, Wannabe. I think maybe my views on poly bushes have been skewed by the eBay crap, the wishbones were pretty tightly wedged in the subframes, my guess is my ride was a lot harsher with them than it would be with proper ones. Maybe I need to find someone around the Midlands who’d take me for a ride so I can get an idea of how the SuperPros feel...
With regard to the maintenance, I thought the SuperPros were designed to retain the grease? Do they still need regular maintenance despite this? The car is a second car, and will be a continuing project, maintenance is something I don’t mind doing, just thought this issue had been overcome through the design.

That was also my understanding of the SuperPro design - and I hope it is true, as I don't want to have to pay the garage for yet another job to grease them every other year or so lol They do have less compliance, it's true, but I don't find them intolerable! I'm too far away to meet up but hopefully someone else might be near you and have them fitted!

I've fully superpro'd mine and was very surprised at how compliant it still is, not much harsher at all just more connected as wannabe said. SO if you already have them I wouldn't hesitate to fit them. Don't however poly bush the engine mounts on a daily, mine vibrates likes buggery! (you chaps are missing a swear word filter there )

May stretch to some diff bush void fillers but most likely I'll leave them as they are.

Surely new OEM rubber bushes would be the best choice for a road car?

Yup it was completely oem rubber prior to that, 100k miles on them.
I also put void fillers in at the same time, other than that all of the bushes were changed completely to superpro.

They look good value Alu or steel inserts is it worth the extra Ive had cheap ebay crap on mine for 2 years but probably need to upgrade soon Interesting, for sure. I'd personally still be a little wary, as they do seem from a distance to be a bit too similar to the crap eBay ones, but the fact that there are options on hardness and crush tube material gives hope that they'd be better. Would be interesting to see some reviews and comparisons between them and others. IMO, go for steel crush tubes every time. The crush tubes on eBay crap I had were aluminium, problem is that dissimilar metal corrosion means that the aluminium tubes become stuck to the steel bolts. I had a few that were really bad, had to get the big hammer out on a couple, and had to grind the crush tube off of the rear lower hub bolts! In all honesty, I am leaning towards sticking with the SuperPro ones, seeing as I've already got them. I've had a look on the SuperPro website too, one of their FAQs is regarding NVH etc. over OEM, and in line with mrwallace's findings, they claim there is no increase in NVH over OEM. I guess I'll find out in around 9 months time when I get the car back on the road...
