IIRC Cat-C is major damage beyond economical repair, whereas Cat-D is minor damage beyond economical repair? They've changed the system now and I'm not sure what's what lol Something like that. It's a bit of a grey area though I guess - Especially since the car is, well, in much better condition than what my Swift was it's really odd. My guess is that as it happened in 2008, the market value was a bit crappy so the cost of a new bumper, bonnet, and bumper support thing would have most likely cost way more than a Mazda MX5 - Ergo written off as a Cat C.

From memory they were very 'optimistic' with their power claims. The 1.6 versions were more like 130 and the 1.8s 150 when rolling roaded. Stunning cars though, nice and revvy. I've had all 3 Mazdaspeed cars and would definitely agree that this is the best of them Russell

This all happened in a dream, right? I mean, if you go outside the car won't actually be there, surely.
Srsly congratulations.

Is the wording I've highlighted in red a typo?
Should it be Cat C?

I hope it's a proper Mazdaspeed 2-way LSD on it. Much sexiness.

I hope it's a proper Mazdaspeed 2-way LSD on it. Much sexiness. I *think* it should have a 1.5 diff, but there's no real way to be sure apart from pulling the diff casing apart and having a look for myself. It deffo does have an LSD in it - sometimes when doing a 3 point turn or whatever, the rear wheels do skip a tiny bit (not like a welded diff, just like something locking up a little), and she goes sideways for daaaaaays. I also have more updates, and pictures! Imma just do a poo first and then I'll be back for some updatings!

Righto. Update time! So, a few days after ownership I started to have... issues. Firstly there was a weird rattling noise coming from underneath the car so I figured there was a stone in the exhaust heat-shield. Whatever, no biggie. nekminnit - LOUD INTAKE NOISE. NO POWER. Canoe. Is my engine dead? Wtf. Gave it a bit of a rev and it "cleared up". Probably not the best thing to do but whatever. So, I did a google search of "loud intake, loss of power miata" and that took me to a miata.net thread with EXACTLY the same issues. The guy said his cat exploded and was blocking up the exhaust resulting in a lack of power. Off I go then, and I jacked the car up and took apart the exhaust, let it hang down and lo, behold. IMG_20180808_203847 by Haris Naim, on Flickr Pretty sure that's not supposed to be like that ahaha. I'm guessing it uh, exploded and came out the rear canoe end of the car at some point ahaha. That resulting globule of cat must have got lodged sideways when under power and blocked flow. Got a knife, cut it in half, pulled it out, used a wheel brush to brush it all out and went for a test drive. What I thought was a pretty quick car actually turned out to be uh... Well now THAT my exhaust is actually working properly, holy prarrie canoe. HELLO THERE MID-END, OH WELCOME BACK TOP END! Next thing is attention to the brakes. They're a bit prarrie canoe, I took the wheels off today and there's not that much pad left. Enough to get me by a few weeks but really need to get sorted ASAP. To finish off, just some interior pics of the car IMG_20180806_133401 by Haris Naim, on Flickr IMG_20180806_133419 by Haris Naim, on Flickr IMG_20180806_133450 by Haris Naim, on Flickr IMG_20180806_133433 by Haris Naim, on Flickr IMG_20180806_133600 by Haris Naim, on Flickr IMG_20180806_084934 by Haris Naim, on Flickr IMG_20180806_084928 by Haris Naim, on Flickr
