Hi
So my MK3 gets absolutely soaking wet underneath the driver's seat whenever it rains, its clearly the drain tubes behind the seats causing the leak (the ones where you prop the roof half open to gain access).
I've spent a good hour or two over the past couple of weeks trying to get a trombone cleaner down and through, but I can't for the lift of me find the start of the drain hole. The cleaner just ends up wrapping up inside the little area underneath the plastic covering, or going off in completely the wrong direction. I've watched all the youtube videos, read all the threads, etc. I've tried two local garages and neither will help because its "the roof" and wont touch it. At a bit of a loss with what to do. Think I'm going to get a wire coat hanger just to check that the tube isn't so blocked that my trombone cleaner is too big to break up the cack. But open to any suggestions as the car is starting to stink and would really like to get it sorted.
Thanks
Julian

Try going from under the car upwards and see if it's something blocking the drain

Don't go from the bottom, I believe that disturbs the flap to stop road noise? Try just a curtain wire so your not pushing a brush through. Also put up a location, someone might be able to nip round and help

I used to live in Nailsea and am up there quite often, you could always take a trip to Total MX5 in Barry totalmx5repair.weebly.com/Mark runs Saturday club and you would be sorted straight away. I'm next over there on 12th Sept.

I don't think there's a Saturday club this week as they're at Castle Combe Forge day

Got it! Gave it a good hard push with a stiff piece of wire, and something gave way. Very happy to get it sorted. Thanks for your help anyway
