Well, I was trying to decide if I should splash out on a full set of new rubbers and found this whilst giving the old girl a clean at the weekend:
So I guess that's that decision made then!
I went with the Toyo Proxes from Black circles, they were £46.12 a piece, fitted at a local garage of PROfession TYREfitters in Lawrence Hill. Didn't fancy the look of their charges, nor their online rep, for an alignment so I will either take it to Blink next time I'm oop North or most probably head to see Lee at FCM as I've heard good things about him.
But holy prarrie canoe have the new shoes made the old girl dance! It feels like a totally different car. I did a service at the weekend with a new air filter and it feels revvier than ever but the rubber has changed the whole feel completely. Gone is the unnerving turn in and the weird squirrelyness under heavy braking during spirited driving. I went for a drive on my local route but it was a bit early to properly enjoy myself and even so I can feel the difference already. Can't wait to have a proper go at some point. I've always had prarrie canoe cars so had prarrie canoe tyres, even my half decent leon wasn't improved by the used set of decent rings I stuck on; why didn't anyone tell me new tyres felt this good?

I feel your pain - I've just discovered I've picked up what looks like one of those picture hook nails with the white plastic bit on the end, and naturally, it's on a tyre with loads of tread and in a spot they won't be able to repair it, grrr....
Which Proxes did you get? The T1-S were terrible when I had them, and the replacement T1-R does not get much love on the forums lol
