Hai.
So the Mazdaspeed Catback on my car pretty much sounds like a Dyson hoover.
I need some fruity noise. Not too loud. Lol okay loud is good, but not 3kRPM 60mph droning loud. I do like to listen to some tunes in the car alrighty?
People need to know I'm coming right. Like a foreshadowing warning from the depths of the underworld. In Aural form.
SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOOOOT.

If you want proper fruit have someone make you a backbox delete pipe, you will then have a punnet of raspberries.

If you're feeling flush, the AKAutomotive 'Race' system is quiet off the throttle and under 3k rpm, but with a characterful 'rorty' exhaust note above 3k, which changes nicely as it rises

How flush does one need to be feeling to consider the aka exhaust? I'm still waiting for a call back from them for an alignment I needed in July...

I think they are busybusy racing, from what they've said on the other forum (IIRC) which is somewhat annoying for us but good for them. I think they run to about £450, but that's for a complete system from the end of the manifold back - it removes the cat completely. I need to replace my manifold at some point as it's been welded, but I'm not sure if there's a direct replacement for the 1.6 that terminates at exactly the same place so would fit! IIRC the chap at my garage said they were a bit of a faff to fit because they weren't absolutely spot-on, but I do like mine a lot - it's not just constant blaring noise and drone like some of the angry-wasps-in-a-tin noise from the corn* exhausts that I've seen posted on youtube, and it's not that hollow, guttural farting noise you get when someone's fitted a 4" backbox to a 1.2 Corsa - it has real character change as the revs increase, and it's super-quiet when pottering about under 2k or when you've come off the power, meaning you can act the hooligan but then back right off and silently cruise past the police car you've just spotted coming the other way lol

if it helps, I'm not a fan of the cobalt system (as fitted on my car by the previous owner) as i find it a little loud as a daily drive. I know that the cobalt system is popular (is it because moss sell them therefore it must be good???) I'm not from the 'loud-is-good' brigade, prefer to go fast quietly I'm looking into other options or replacing the tailpipe as I think that has a lot to do with the cobalt's noise Rich.

I'll vouch for the AK race system too....lovely noise and no boom/drone at motorway speeds. Mine has a nice rolled tailpipe like an 80's Janspeed backbox, suits the car imo.

Yeah I know, speaks volumes for their reputation, I hate it when the car/house needs some work and the chosen "specialist" says he can start tomorrow.... Er, no thanks, I'll go with the guy that's twice as expensive and can't do it for 3 months thanks...
