Functionally with copy and paste, it's your url with everything including and after the "?" removed.

I don't mean to patronise, but in case: urls have a set of encoding features like 'things after ? are parameters' which the web application can access as name=value and "&" separates each name=value pair

sometimes those bits of crud are needed to make the page render, but in this case they're just giving the website info about where their 'content' was shared and how it's spread.

As an enemy of advertising, capitalism, and common decency, I like to prevent them getting that kind of info.

The CID looks the mankiest bit to me.
