trawling the forums I've seen some interesting conversions, I have considered dropping a somewhat healthy Vauxhal 'XE' into my Eunos (but decided that for the work involved a turbo is easier for the same hp gain) and theres the V8 conversions - common in USA with 'off-the-shelf' kits available anyway, there is an engine that I would have thought was a little large for the '5... WTF lol
What's that from? A Beemer?
Engine weight is usually an issue with anything crazy that gets swapped in - surely it will ruin the ride and handling with a boat anchor stuck out the front!

That is awesome!
I can only think that that has no practical real world benefit other than people looking in the bay and saying 'That is awesome!' a lot, so it's filling its potential despite being pointless.

Well, the engine is in, for a fairly loose definition of "in" which doesn't include closing the bonnet. There's a lot of head scratching still to do to make it run.
Heroic effort so far though.
Reminds me of the Jag V12 build on Miata.net years ago. That did eventually run, with a huge gap cut out of the bonnet for 12 trumpets atop half a dozen carburettors.

Sounds awesome is not wrong.

Should say this was from way back in 2008-9. He had to sell the car eventually when it wasn't really finished. Some later owner built a catastrophically ugly cowl over the carbs and painted flames on it.

Having put a Lancia Volumex engine into a Formula27 which was designed to take a similar Lancia Beta engine my advice would be to save yourself the anguish and either buy one already done or find a production car with your chosen engine. There are many ways to make a 5 go faster without resorting to the time consuming "drop in a different lump". Having said that beware neglecting your 5 if you do decide to go down the production car with chosen engine route. Mine has been sadly neglected since I bought a Beemer:))550i M-Sport Touring earlier in the summer. The old adage "there's no substitute for litres" deffo applies - 360 bhp & 360lbsft are hard to beat . Cheers, Pewe. So Horney, the auto correct feature Tailgate McNoIndicate doesn't apply to us all, you cheeky barsteward.
Besides which coming from the owner of one of their other products is a bit rich!!
