any tips for refreshing my tired looking track car?
EDIT: i think PlastiDip works out too expensive. now considering a roller! i guess a light sanding and roll away. finish won't be as good. Any recommendations on paint? other experiences doing this?
reason i'm doing this is that very tired silver is not very inspiring! track day photos from 50m will be so much better with something bright, no matter how bad the orange peel.

If you go for military paint - go for satin not matt. Matt looks terrible very quickly.
If you want to go for a colour - look for tractol or rustoleum paint, it's commonly used on land rovers for repainting them. There should be some guides on how best to paint with it too...

Landies will normally already have matt paint, so that'll accept most paints. i'm thinking PlastiDip again as that what that stuff seems to go directly on top. 10 cans should do it. it won't be a proper job, some youtubers talk of 40 cans....

If you flat the existing paint, then tractol etc should be OK, even on gloss - if you search for hand painting land rovers then there's loads of guides / before/afters etc... Nobody ever bothers fully sanding down an old landy
