Some may know that I had an on-going misfire problem for ages. Finally came to a head when it stopped and wouldn't restart about half a mile from home.
Fortunately a quick tow from the tin-top saw the little bugger back on the drive. Given the A4 sized list of items I had already tried I decided to work backwards, Despite there being no reported problems with the ECU (according to Eurospec2000 before they went bust) or electrical system I decided to replace the renovated CPS (new, modern Hall sensors). Fitted the old one and off she went! Curious by nature I decided to pull the duff one apart only to find a dry (un-soldered) connection which was obviously contacting when cold but breaking connection when hot or under vibration. So apart from learning to double check soldered joins I now know never to rule anything out - you live and learn. Cheers, Pewe.
