I believe both the bonnet and boot lid have an aluminium skin welded onto a steel frame, but only what I’ve read...

On the Mk3, the bonnet is all Aluminium, with the exception of the brackets.
The boot on the folding hard-top NC, like mine, is steel. The bootlid on the soft-top is Ally.
