The next round of Classic Marques is nearly upon us at Abington this coming weekend. Shame Horney’s not going to be there as I have my new R888Rs to see what difference they make against the Rainsports. Fingers crossed it’ll stay dry unlike a few years ago when it was torrential rain in the morning then we got sunburnt in the afternoon. Here’s a previous go in my TVR-

So I’ve worked out I need to do a combined time of 104.25 to see if the R888Rs are worth fitting.... Previously did a 106.6 on the RainSports..

It's unlikely an abrasive mostly straight fast sprint like that is the best candidate to find the lateral limits of 1B rubber the corners are quite slow, but I've only seen the sprint on vids and never run on it and only done trackdays there.
I'd be concerned with trashing a good set of 1Bs pushing hard on that surface on slow corners, but perhaps it is not as bad as I remember.
Edit - Looking at your vid that appears to be more tighter corners than other abingdon sprints must be a couple of layouts, it will be interesting to see the outcome, I reckon they will be faster.

Hi Sandy Not in CM this year? Shame you’re not out to play this year, you were right on it & causing aggro from the start- It seems that some people have difficulty being beaten by MX5s- tough prarrie canoe.... Both courses are on the vid- the 1st one is the ‘bus stop’ track & the 2nd is the quick one. Edit- looking at the forecast, it looks like the Rainsports will be going back on......

Not really done anything this year, car still needs work I've not had the dough to do, even so I have taken it to the odd new event to keep my toe in and she's still competitive despite screwed up gearing (fitted 6spd but 4.48 diff is too short) but it'll need to be tiptop to properly challenge you guys, hopefully next year I can give you all a good battle with a car in the right state.

That was a good fun day with lots of runs (8 on 2 different courses) but I didn’t do as well as hoped. Think I need to get more practice in on the R889Rs to get the most out of them. Also, they were still very ‘green’ despite me doing over 160 miles on them before getting to the circuit. The results were that I ended up 4th behind a Boxster, Griffith & Esprit- could do better! Not doing anything till the end of July now which is Castle Combe, that’ll be a good test of how good the tyres are. Anyway, here’s the vid-

Not doing anything till the end of July now which is Castle Combe, that’ll be a good test of how good the tyres are. I found ~1s between 1A (72.2) and 1B (71.4) at Canoe Mayo, approx times from memory in brackets, this was with AD08R, 888R should be a better tyre than those being a proper semi slick, so reckon you'd be on for cracking a high 69- low 70s a lap

Canoe mayo. lol
I preferred the 2nd course when I sprinted the supercharged Mazda because you got to do lots of skids. Probably why I was slow. lol.
