hi guys and girls - 2006 NC 6 speed
what is this clunking noise i keep hearing from the front of the car even on small or big potholes/ speedbumps? I had an Audi A2 years ago and the rear suspension bushing was rotten out and sounded the same.
I jacked up the car, pulled on the sway bar, drop links and everything looks stiff with not much moovement there.
What can it be?
Thanks
Bertie

Top mounts?
I have a similar issue on the missus' car - mechanic says it's all tight but there's an annoying looseness between suspension and the car body that I can't pin down!

I had similar on my NC and changing the drop links solved it.

I suppose I'll do drop links first, then top mounts, then I'll drive it as it is.

removed the jack and other bits from the boot and any loose items to make sure it's not something rattling around. No change.
I replaced back and front ARB bushes. No change
I replaced the ARB drop links back and front. No change
I lowered the car a few inches from the original setup. When taking out the struts I checked around for loose cracked bushes in the control arms/ trail arms but everything seems ok. I looked at the top struts bushes to see if they are worn out but they looked intact. Put everything back together, no change
I've put it on jack stands and hit the tyres with a hammer to try and replicate the sound (like eric the car guy did) but I can't hear it from the outside.
I read somewhere it might be the pads in the brakes rattling around. I don't seem to be able to move them about with the screwdriver.
I never drover a different mx5 before, so i'm not sure if this is normal.
Does anyone know what it might be? Is this normal?

No it's not normal at all.
I have two NC's. A 2006 2.0 Sport ..... no noises whatsoever at 100,000 miles.
A 2011 2.0 PRHT Tech, 11,000 miles and no noises whatsoever.
Regards. Rich.

I hate sounds that only happen when you're driving, they're a total PITA to pin down!
