I'm after a carbonmiata trunk with ducktail(in carbon) for an nc prht. I know it's a massive longshot but thought I'd ask before i pull the trigger on a new one

I cannot offer you a CM boot lid for sale, but having recently fitted one on my Mk3 PRHT, I can offer a few pointers.
* Have the lid professionally finished/painted. The resin/lacquer on mine has started to go milky after a few months. This doesn't appear to be just surface either, as it won't polish out. Also, finish the underside in something like matte/satin black. * The hole where the wiring loom goes through will need opening up a fair bit, so the wiring loom grommet fits. I'd use a bit of silicone or polyurethane adhesive. * You'll also want to drill a few holes for the wiring loom clips. * The centre numberplate light hole will want blanking. If you're going to paint it, then you might as well fill it w/ fibreglass and finish it properly. I just stuffed the blanking plug from the OEM lid in, and PU adhesive'd it in place. * I set the panel gaps by wedging bits of cardboard in the gaps until they were all equal. Then do the final tightening of the fixing nuts. * Go easy on the torque for the hinge fixing studs....

Thanks for the pointers always nice to hear from people with experience of fitting. I was planning on getting it painted eventually but may well just go for fibreglass from the off. Apart from the above mentioned what is the overall fit and finish like.

Fit and finish is surprisingly good for a CF part. I needed to rub down one or two (largely hidden) edges on the underside, but that is all. It is square, and panel gaps are even all around, if not a little greater than OEM. The only issue I've has is that the lacquer seems to have gone milky in places, but I think that's down to me not getting it painted/clear-coated when I bought it.

Lacquer going milky generally means one of 2 things ... either some moisture got in to the carbon during the manufacturing process, or the lacquer was a cheap one and not UV proof.
Either way, it depends why you want carbon ... if it's for the weight saving, get it anyway and paint it ... although ideally you want to be taking weight off the front end, not the rear. If it's for the look, I'd just get a fibreglass one and paint it as that's what you'll probably have to do anyway

My plan was to eventually(but not definitely) have the lid painted and I thought by having carbon I could cope with having a boot lid that wasn't body colour until then, I know it's not the best reason to spend the extra cash(around £100 in total) plus I assume the quality of fit and finish is going to be better with carbon, although I haven't seen one in either material in real life so it's an just an assumption. I capable of the fitting but I would have to farm out the prepand paint and thought the carbon would be a better starting point. I'm very happy to receive advice
