I'm old enough to remember these engines being slotted into lots of different cars. I had an honest, Savage 2 door V6 Cortina GT Mk1, oh how I loved that car back in 1979. This MX5 is quite interesting.
There where a couple of guys waaaaaay back in my Minin Cooper "S" days who did a huge amount of development work on the Mini engine. They where near Reigate in Surrey I think, I'm going back to the mid/late 1970's ..... I think they where called Swaymar? A couple of doctors who took to development work, use to work from home and sell from his garage. Anyway, roll on a few years, well, a lot of years actually, and one of them got into doing the Ford V6 engines, around the same sort of area, this guy ended up building up TVR engines for a while at the TVR specialist in Crawley.
Back to the Ford engines. The stuff they produced made those engines mighty. Maybe there is still stuff out there to make them much lighter and more powerful. The engine as standard is a bit of a dullard but it certainly has good potential for a very different powered MX5.
Regards. Rich.

That's the sort of thing they do in Cuba. But with a 14 litre V8 out of a Russian truck. The Cologne wouldn't be many peoples first choice for this, but I suppose if you had one lying around it might be worth a go. As said, the engine in standard Granada form is only about 130 hp. Heavy too.
