random boredom I suppose, been tidyin & tripped over an engine.... 15cc sidevalve watercooled 4 stroke petrol engine called the 'Seal' www.hemingwaykits.com/acatalog/The_Seal___Edgar_T_Westbury.htmlbuilt from castings & metal stock, was stripped & sometime in the early 90's the crankshaft was case-hardened but never managed to find time or hwyl for rebuild maybe if I get some time.... calculator shows size.... the carbon in the cylinderhead's combustion-chambers should speak a thousand words Rich.

spark plug position wrong and wrong heat range plugs running too cool. Brilliant little side valve though.

spark plug position wrong and wrong heat range plugs running too cool. Brilliant little side valve though. thought you'd have something to say plug position due to design, layered construction with the cylinder head 'open' and a top cover to create the coolant area - plugs hang out the side....... tiny champion spark plugs, came in tiny cardboard boxes (got one in the parts box, will dig it up) not guaranteeing the mixture was perfect (no afr guage) and athat the carburettor was 'home made' did't help Rich.

Hi Rich,
My comments were very tongue in cheek.
It looks like a brilliant little engine. I had to resist buying a kit to build one. ( I already have too many projects )
