For anyone interested in this kit I'd say I think my custom plywood brace will be better than the metal Mazda one. Mainly as the battery makes the tray bow outwards slightly. I ended up putting a slight curve in the brace so it was a snug fit. Although perhaps the thin metal part will flex to allow for this?
I looked at a few 063 batteries in stock. All were pretty much the same. All will fit ok I guess. I also added a small custom sized wooden block to the upper clamp. Otherwise you will have to find something suitable here. You do NOT need the longer J-rod at all. So overall you are paying a lot for a plastic tray! I'd say make your own. Alternatively a Fiat 500 battery MAY also fit. It takes up a wedge less floor area but sits a little higher. Worth checking it yourself.

as a thread update, this is what I've been using in my Eunos its not blown up yet Rich. I'll see your mobility scooter battery and raise you a lawnmower battery
I looked at the Odyssey batteries but the PC680 weighs the same as the above (7kg) so it's not really that light.
Great minds think alike................................................. .. .. . .. .... .... And... fools seldom differ Rich.

One thing I loved about my Odyssey is it lays down flat. Clearly lowering the COG and also frees up a lot of boot space - you can lay items on top of the battery Just ensure the terminals are covered and point out of the way.

A "race" battery mount which does not take advantage of a lower center of gravity. That's a new concept

A "race" battery mount which does not take advantage of a lower center of gravity. That's a new concept yup and for £50+ you have to use the car's origonal battery clamp well, I suppose its a UK busness making money so wnder if you get a sticker with that Rich.
