I'm thinking of signing up for this hillclimb training day on 4 August. It's quite pricey at £210 for the day, which covers all meals and refreshments, 8 observed runs and a certificate.
Anyone else interested?

Shelsey is a power hill. Only 1 braking point but it’s good fun. Hopefully it’ll be dry for you as it’s lethal damp/wet.

Yeah, and I haven't got much power! I don't think my car would do very well in competition there which is partly why I'm looking at the driving school thing. I've not done Shelsley before but have spectated there a few times.

No official timing due to regs sadly. Enough power? Well it'a a steep climb, and gearing is is also an important thing here, I have a 4.1 torsen, could do with slightly lower gearing for Shelsely. More mid range torque would be useful too. My car is about 155 hp at the fly. Went up pretty rapid though, best run was estimated at around 42s. At the end of the day I know where I can find 2 or maybe 3 seconds. All in all I found the day extremely encouraging, the car handles spot on, and my confidence has gone up a couple of notches. Life in this old dog yet. More gratuitous pics:   |

Life in this old dog yet. Sounds great, might put it on my list for next year, unless there's an actual hillclimb there again as part of our speed championship...
Might also be worth looking at lap timer apps, I have a really good one (RaceChrono Pro) so can do my own unofficial timing, at least to compare runs.
