Mystery, yesterday went for top down waz, running beautifully, until, what felt like hesitancy accompanied with distinct change in exhaust note. Stalled at next junction. A mantle of gloom descended m, but lifted when she fired up again, but wouldn’t idle and ran “evenly but rough”. Pressed on home, oil pressure, water temp all fine, but still with muffled exhaust sound. When I got back in the garage there was a strong smell of burning paper (eliciting complaints from the memsahib). Engine bay temperatures felt normal, however, I have twin exhaust fed from a single transverse back box, the left hand tip was far too hot to touch, the right hand tip was cool. I started her up this am with tablet connected and ignition advance showed 16 degrees, but only ran for a few seconds before cutting out. CAS hasn’t moved. I am leaning towards a blocked exhaust, the paper smell coming from the internal wrapper on my catalyst. Any other suggestions before I start pulling things off? Left hand pipe Right hand pipe

doomed silencer, remove it & go for a testdrive..... it'll sound like a Malian without the 'insert' Rich.

There is a box between the rear twin box and the cat, I reckon that’s broken up inside. Off for a fiddle

Nothing to do with the exhaust, TWO COPs had packed up! Checked all megasquirt dwell settings, nothing wrong. Pissed off with missing a sunny day, so refitted the original coils, sweet as a nut. Will check everything over tomorrow.
